HOPE WORLDWIDE (SINGAPORE) FLAG DAY

Hallo people

Karina wrote about this but oh well I'm gonna write another one.

I went for the first shift with Kar Wai, Karina, Valerie, Victoria, Apoorva, Jannah and Elizabeth (and 10 Astraia ma'ams and a few Zephyr ma'ams). The flag day was pretty fun but a bit tiring. I stood near the escalators and I think some people were kinda annoyed like
*goes up escalator*
*reaches the top*
*first thing he/she sees is me holding a donation tin*

However, most of them were quite nice and dug out a handful of coins from their pockets or wallets; and even those who didn't want to donate were still really polite about it. Some of them were really kind and still took the time to take out their wallets even though they were rushing to the MRT station to catch the train. I realised that parents with kids were more willing to donate and often gave their kids the money to drop into the tin. I think it's a good thing to teach kids to donate or contribute to their society since young.

It kinda felt like an achievement feeling the donation tin get heavier and heavier and see the sticker sheets getting emptier and emptier because it meant that more funds had been collected.

Generally, I had an enriching experience and I'd probably be more eager to participate in such activities in future :)

(There were only 8 people in the first session and I've listed out the other 7 you can go guess who I am)

Also there's this old video of a hamster it's really cute go watch it if you are free for 52 seconds and you like hamsters too yay

Flag day today :)

Today was the first flag day for most of us :) it was kinda fun really except for the part where some people criticise us but it was ok :P some of us like xin yi and jannah filled until so heavy meep me and kar wai's one was ok too but kar wai one was heavier haha. We stood at the field waiting for people but after dat I went to the staircase near nex's entrance got alot people :3 some people very generous giv $4 and when me and kar wai was doing tgt they gave us both to be fair so nice rite. Senior citizens are kinda nice too .  Never judge a book by its cover. Some people who you thot wl nv donate donated too . It kinda make different types of people all seem more friendlier the next time you see them outside. At least you know they have a kind heart. Anyways those in shift 1 took a pic. Thanks Elizabeth for the pic ^^

Annual camp'14

Why everyone all write so long but okay.
For me, AC is really a worthwhile experience and it gave Hestia a chance to bond as a squad and with our Astraia ma'ams. AC compared to a lot other activities is of course, tougher. But im really proud of Hestia because everyone put in a lot of effort and persevered till the end. We also learnt a lot of new things and improved on things that we had learnt before.
Since everyone all write in detail ill just write the more significant parts ya.
Night-walk. I expected night-walk to be really scary but it ended up being not that scary. The first station i went to had creepy pictures we had to look for and there were also ma'ams who had to scare us in the classroom. When i first entered, I felt quite scared but after awhile its actually fun trying to find the pictures. The second station wasnt scary at all because there were a lot of us together going in the station.
Fire drills. The first fire drill could have been better as there were miscommunications and we took very long to find casualties. But the second fire drill was a lot better because we took around 10 minutes (half the time we took for the first fire drill) to find casualties and assemble.
Campcraft. Together with Astraia ma'ams, we took 25 minutes to pitch a full tent!
Campfire (last but not least). Campfire was fun with all the cheers and performances and we all did well with our skit and dance performances.
All in all, AC is a very good experience. (closing so awkward lol)

AC in the view of a kid

Ac was very tough for me ok. Like all those running and pt and stuff. Like I expected, I was the slowest in the unit heh and the weakest too. But I cant believe I did not faint tt is just pure miracle haha :P ( I found out during a pe lesson my stamina was very bad but I cld recover very fast after a exercise so I guess tt helped) the food at camp was so awesome omgggg. The maggi veli veli nice especially the mushrooms ( squeeee I luv mushrooms yay) but I wished I cld eat the whole can by myself heeheee and maggi tooo . Tent pitching was fantastic like I cant believe I help pitch a tent by 25 min? Omg. And thr were actually gummi bears yay my squadmate so nice gave me one. Nightwalk was pretty scary ok. The classroom one cos the pictures vwey scary . The ma'ams weren't tt scary but when they suddenly rush at u its damn scary. The toilet one was very scary cos the ma'ams started screaminh and I got so scared I started screaming along. I was scared tt someone wl crawl out frm under the sink omg. Fire drill was hell for me. I heard the whistle and then for a moment everyone hesitated then we realise it is firedrill so everyone ran out and then my leg cant fit in my horrible shoe. Then had to run with the bottle I was like dying . I cldnt eun dast enuff and everybody was running very fast.  Went to sleep with sweat on my hair and woke up the nxt day with my fringe sticking up straight. It was horrible ok. Campfire was very funny . But I forgot to say some lines for the script ahhh. But the ma'ams made the campfire very fun. Kinda dreaded going home after AC heh.

p.s . Sentry duty biscuit very nice

Annual camp by another person

Yep I know it's boring to hear the same old story again. But I'm gonna cut it short and just say about the fun and weird stuff. But to say the truth, it is SUPER LONGGGGG!!!

So first, there is day 1 where I actually got everything confiscated except my socks (both white and black), my sch skirt, my beret and NP skirt. And yes I know you guys are gg to ask why I'm so stupid as to not check with the others on how to organise my stuff. But I actually tried and am still a bit pissed about how my stuff ended confiscated. But that is another story that can wait for a century before I tell. (Yea I'm most likely dead by then. So too bad you can't hear the story. Haha)

Now carrying on. The NIGHT WALK. Ok this is the best part!!! Not everyone agrees. But for me, it is. The ma'ams started telling us ghost stories and I got super freaked out. So I tried calming down and that worked a bit. But to say the truth, it had side effects. (I got so hyped up that I started talking nonsense and laughing. You guys will find out soon.) So right after that, we went to cedar sanctuary toilet. My ma'am and I was the second pair to go in. For your info, I was actually a bit creeped out after hearing the first grp go in and scream like there was no tomorrow. (Sry Xin Yi, don't kill me.)

Before I went in, I realised that I forgot to put batteries into my torchlight. (I mean how dumb can I be to actually forget to do tt.) Ok moving on. When we went in, I was holding my ma'am's hand. But what totally got me laughing was this picture of an eyeball. Like OMG!! IT WAS A FREAKING PICTURE OF AN EYEBALL!! And it was pasted onto the door where the mops and other stuff are kept. I mean tt is juz hilarious. (Sry ma'ams but the eyeball could have been behind the door...) Ok next. So we were supposed to find 4 candles. And since it's a toilet, ofc someone would b hiding in the cubicles. (Who doesn't noe tt!?) So we went abt opening the doors. And juz so happens, the 2nd cubicle was locked. And to say the truth, I thot someone was juz using the toilet and would come out aft tt. Now this is stupid. Cuz someone who is supposed to scare you won't juz flush the toilet and walk out lik they r not part of it.
So we went on opening the doors. (O we found 3 candles already.)

WARNING: I PUT SEC 3 MA'AM (1), (2) N (3) AS I DO NOT WISH TO SAY THE MA'AM'S NAME. (For future readers juz take is as it is.)

This is where it gets interesting. So when we opened the door beside the handicap toilet, sec 3 ma'am (1) was sitting there with this tissue paper wrapped around her head, and lipstick(?) smeared over her face. O and when we opened the door, I kind of shined the torchlight at her face... Oops... Haha... (Awkward) And I laughed. Lik imagine your ma'am who is supposed to be strict sitting there with tt makeup on and tt weird grin on her face. It's totally hilarious. And before I forget, when we opened the handicap toilet, I turned around to see if we had missed out any candles. And who do you think I found crawling on the floor? If you guessed sec 3 ma'am (1), you got it right. And I juz started laughing lik a mad woman. I mean someone who is crawling will always look awkward especially when u suddenly turn around and see them in tt position. (Sorry for the descriptions ma'am. But I juz can't help it ma'am.) And we actually opened tt door 3 times. Each time was juz equally funny. OMG hahahahahaha. Still is now. And since we can't find the last candle, I started randomly talking. (An example of my random speech. "Why did humans invent torchlight? Yoo hoo! Anyone there???") Now you noe y I said I was crazy aft calming down.

Ok so aft our unsuccessful hunt for the last candle, sec 3 ma'am (2) opened the door and said we can go out. Then when we were leaving, sec 3 ma'am (3) opened the 2nd cubicle door (she was hiding there) and said sth lik " you noe tt you were supposed to step into the 3rd cubicle so I grab your leg rite?" She totally gave the game away!! And then I was lik "uh... Yes ma'am..." Thinking to myself "oops.. I didn't noe... Haha..."

So end of story. Cuz i didn't get to go for the second one. But I think was quite a sadist. I actually laughed at the other campers who were in the classroom when they screamed. And I got so hyped up abt it. (Yep I'm evil). So see you guys next time. I'm going bck to slp now.

Awesome PX
I know you guys juz luv me. Haha.

ANNUAL CAMP 2014

Okay so there's A LOT of stuff to talk about for this camp.

This is our first ever NPCC and Cedar camp and it's been an eye-opener for many of us. We've learnt a lot from this camp, we've bonded with our Astraia Ma'ams, and I'm sure we've also improved a lot as a squad and as campers.

DAY 1
We had a lot of stuff confiscated when we fell in on the first day because some of the things we not standardized, especially our lifes! After placing everything in our classroom, we had a drill session and an orienteering and pioneering (campcraft) session, where we learnt a new drill and improved slightly on our previous ones. We used our compass to find our way to the second level (outside the Arena Sports Hall) where we had to make a throne using about 8 Dowel poles and our twine. Valerie had to sit on it (she was the lightest one) even though it wasn't completely steady but at least it didn't break hahah. My group didn't manage to go to the second station because there wasn't enough time. (The ones who went for the other one please update this post and put it in thanks.) We also had initiative games which were really fun and I think it's really effective and it helped my group bond very well. Maybe we should have this kind of games to help our squad bond hehe.

We had our first night-walk from 7:00-9:00 and it started with the Zephyr Ma'ams telling us some ghosts stories. Some of us were really freaked out especially by the one about the girl taking off her head on the track (including me) and some of us just tried to calm ourselves down before going to the two stations. My buddy and I were the first pair to go to the timber-deck toilet station. I was realllllly freaked out when we had to knock on the door so that we wouldn't "insult any spirits in the dark toilet". We were already soo freaked out when someone banged on the cubicle walls. When we went into one cubicle to get the candle on the toilet seat, someone grabbed our legs and we screamed and ran out of the toilet but we had to go in again. I didn't dare to open my eyes anymore so I just clung onto my buddy. Ma'am kicked open the door and suddenly I just heard screaming and I tried to run out but I couldn't see where I was going (still covering my eyes ik very smart) then when I finally opened my eyes I saw something white crawling on the floor and MY BRAIN DECIDED TO STOP WORKING AND I THOUGHT IT WAS A GHOST AND I WAS DAMN FREAKED OUT I SCREAMED LIKE SIAO AND I DIDN'T KNOW WHERE THE DOOR WAS SO I JUST YELLED AND YELLED COS I WAS AT THE END OF THE TOILET AT THE WALL (WHICH WAS ACTUALLY NEXT TO THE DOOR I TOLD YOU MY BRAIN DIED) THEN LUCkily a Ma'am opened the door and I heard something like "where's the poor girl" (yaS SCREAMED VERY LOUDLY) and then I got out whew. A few others from my group went in too while we calmed down and it was pretty amusing (sorryyyy) to hear the screams after we figured out that Ma'am Mani grabbed our legs and Ma'am Nicole was the "ghost".

We had CIs time afterwards, where our CIs talked to us for a while and we had a chance to bid for items using NP money we earned during the games. WE bought a bottle of deo and a lot of snacks to eat during the movie "Rise of The Guardians". A couple of people fell asleep but we all stood up to sing a "Teen Titans" song during the middle of the movie. Everything ended at about 11:40 and we went to brush our teeth and pack our things in the classroom. We went to sleep at about 11:50.

There was a fire drill at 12:30 and we all rushed down to find the casualties and assemble at the basketball court. There was a miscommunication and some of us thought that the fire was only in the courtyard and not in the foyer, hence some of us still ran through the foyer to assemble. We were still groggy as we were tired and just woke up so we took a really long time (over 20 minutes) to find the casualties and carry them to the basketball court. I think we could have done better for it. Finally, we went back to sleep at about 1:00 and woke up at 5:10 the to prepare for the next day.

Overall, I think Day 1 was a bit difficult for Hestia because we were not used to having a whole day NPCC activity, but we adjusted to it quickly the next day.

*My sleeping bag had some kind of bugs so I kena bitten like 6 times on my arm, neck, ear and ankles sigh.

(Sorry this is really long gonna write about Day 2 in another post)

IMPORTANT: AC PREPARATION BRIEFING

Hey Hestia, the title says it all. Please log onto our squad email and see the latest e-mail that I have sent. It contains an attached document about what the Astraia Ma'ams have briefed us about AC today. Please do ensure that you understand everything that is in the document clearly, and ensure that you do clarify with your squad mates if you are unsure of anything ASAP.
Thank you!

Rachel :)

First training after EOY :))))))))))

Ahahahaha I feel so guilty cos this is my first post and I'm probably the last person in the squad to post on this blog. I'M SORRY BUT I'M DUMB AROUND THE INTERNET( It took me like 15 min to find out how to create a new post) but on the bright side, at least I'd survive the longest if we were accidentally transported to the Stone Age (hopefully). Anyway, I was going through the blog and I realised that you guys are so easy to identify through the way you type. It's like your typing is shouting [insert squadmate name] ALERT . Tomorrow is our first drills training after EOY and hopefully ma'ams won't knock us down cos I forgot everything :D GOOD LUCK FOR TOMORROW, GUYS!!!!!! Meanwhile, I'll attempt to practice my drills

Jia youz!!!! And Children's Day message.

Wheeee!!!!! I can't believe that we have one more!!!! *screams* And guess what... it's MATH!!!! Not sure about you guys but it's my favourite subject and one of the most useful one in the real world. If you get what i mean.

Anyway, I can't wait for Wednesday!!! Exams are ending!!!! And we can go and play and have fun!!!! Not that i haven't started playing already. Went out on Friday to Pasir Ris Park to cycle and had fun. One of the best days ever.

This reminds me of the Children's Day on Friday. We can never have it again. *full on cries* But it's okay guys, if we want it, we can always have one. Just create one. We will always be a child no matter how old we are. Because, we were once a child and that little girl will always be inside of us. We may not know, but in everything that we do, that small young us will always be there, giving us hope and encouragement. Reminding us that we can dream dreams and fulfill them. Hence, we should never give up but give it our all. So hang on and push through. Wish you guys a Happy Belated Children's Day. Remember that we will always be a child, harbouring dreams.

Alright, back to the topic at hand. Cause I'm getting too emotional.

Jia youz guys, we can make it. All the way for we are a family and we got each other's backs. If anyone of you fall, we go down together. So all the best for exams and keep on working hard. Aim for good grades but most impotantly, the rest you are going to have after all these grilling exams. All the best. And ending with our squads cheer to help you guys keep you spirits up.

             DREAM HIGH, REACH FAR,
                   HESTIA'S THE BEST!

Your (good) friend,
Pei Xuan

P. S. If you guys need help... you can ask me. I will try to explain but it may not work. (Warning you guys first.)

Wednesday, 1 October 2014

ALMOST THERE--HANG IN THERE GUYS!!

EXAMS ARE GONNA BE OVER SOON!!!
JIAYOU GUYS, WE CAN HANG IN THERE!!!

So today our literature and geography (for the o-level track, history) is over!!! Tomorrow will be the end of our humanities examination, so just hang in there for a while more okay? After whatever exams tomorrow, there will be Science, and FINALLY the last paper, Maths.

ALL THE BEST, HESTIA!
WE CAN DO IT!!!

Don't worry Hestia, we all are here for one another, so just give all you got and don't worry too much. Too much stress would give you bad results. Relax and do your best. We can definitely overcome this "battle" together!

Hahahah, I know I'm making this sound very serious, but yea, just so you know you have a whole 17 people behind your back. Never give up okay? People are successful because they never give up.
Hestia, don't EVER EVER EVER give up. Persevere, believe in yourself, and everything would be fine :)

~Hakuna Matata~
"It means no worries, for the rest of your day~"

SMILE AND BE HAPPY

Finally writing sth (doing on phone)

Hey guys, this may have typo error and some accidental short forms cause its on the phone. Wonder if it's allowed. Will try to minimise though.

Soooo.... im going to try to think of some things to write here. First things first, good luck for your eoys (this is late). Jiayouz for the next papers!!! IP is Geog and Lit. Dont know about the O level people. Look at the pictures if you guys are feeling tired. Im spreading the love from my former class's teachers. Hope it helps :)

So, for me, instead of studying, im kind of wasting time here typing away. Just got scolded by my cousin for slacking. *sigh*
Im getting white hair at such a young age... T.T *sobs* Jkjk. My hair is still black, so don't need to have a heart attack. Wait that rhymes... Anyway, I doubt you guys will though. But all the best for eoys. Going back to study after this.

Next, is anyone looking forward to the camp? Cause i have mixed feelings about it. I want to go but dont want at the same time. Feels lik im being torn apart...

... *getting awkward*...

Ok my head is all about exams now. So... im going to go off now? Yep better do that before i get another scolding. Next time. Bye guys. (Need to sign off? Gonna do it anyway. Feels like an email -_-||)

Best of luck,
Lovely pei xuan(not)

HOPE YOU HAD A NICE HOLIDAY

HEY GUYS

I really have no idea what to post but here's a “friendly reminder" (evil laugh):
TODAY IS THE END OF SEPTEMBER HOLS!!!! (cries with yall)

Here's another "friendly reminder":
EYEs ARE STARTING IN ABOUT 10 DAYS!!!! (cries again)

Yall so smart I cry and I'm only halfway through revision *sigh*. Anyway enough about the wretched exams let's talk about NP. So last parade we didn't perform very well and got knocked down (I know this is kind of old but I'm sorry I nag a lot deal with it jkjk I just want to share ways which we can improve (??????) I feel like I'm becoming an ah mah sorry.

Okay so here goes...

1. Come up with a plan/schedule to practice our knots
So some of our squad mates are quite apt in tying knots (e.g. Victoria and Apoorva sorry I only noticed these two because I was in the same group as them last parade) so maybe we could have individual sessions to revise the knots with the rest? All of us know the knots well but we might take a longer time to tie them so maybe we could share and learn from each other more instead of just during parades or squad recess?
For example: Each person (e.g. the ones mentioned above) can be assigned to revise knots with two or three people twice a week during their own time (e.g. recess on another day, or after school) for maybe 3 weeks? Maybe after exams if we want to do this though.

2. https://sites.google.com/site/nassnpcc/npcc-syllabus/campcraft/knots-and-lashings/basic-knots
There's this NPCC website with most of the knots we have learnt so it is easy to revise knots on our own (e.g. screenshot them I mean we all have a phone right and there's Wi-Fi in school)

3. Distribution of manpower
Can we all spend one squad recess discussing and planning how we should distribute the manpower when we are pitching tents during camp-craft? Like maybe draw a table for 4-8 people and write what each person should do during the (extremely short) 30-40 minutes?

4. REVISE ON OUR OWN AT HOME
I know this one's obvious if you know what I'm going to say, kindly skip this whole paragraph to the end where's there's a smiley face. No one's going to check on you (like call you every 3 hours) to see if you are practicing but it is our responsibility to revise whatever we have learnt on our own. There are no excuses because we have a WHOLE WEEK (approximately 168 hours) to practice and we only need about half an hour to do so.

I'm very sorry if you became dizzy from reading such a long thing but I really hope we can improve together!!!

:)

Tent pitching and other stuff haizzz

So yesterday we had extra training and we did tent pitching or at least we were supposed to.. We were originally supposed to pitch three sets of tents on our own for the first time. Everyone was really excited and then... tragedy struck (dundundun). Many of us were not sure of many knots and how to set up the tent. We exceeded time limit by a lot and ma'ams were really angry and disappointed in us. It was the first time we were ever knocked down. It was a pretty scary experience as the ma'ams were shouting really loudly but I guess we deserved it. They have been teaching us how to pitch tents since March and here we are.. in September, 6 months later and still clueless :( We honestly have to improve; even our drills are deteriorating very fast. We are already in Term 3, coming term 4. Soon 2015 will come and we will have juniors who will take us as their models. We have to work together as a squad to improve and I'm very sure we can get back to where our standard was before or even better than that if we all put in our utmost effort. Come on Hestia! We can do it!!!

um

because rachel said we can write whatever. im sorry but can yall stop getting so excited when you see maams around school. i mean its ok to feel panic or what but our wa group is getting spammed with alot of "omg i saw maam_____" i know we are supposed to be scared of them but you dont have to make a big fuss everytime you see them. its in a way disruptive to the conversation because the squad might be discussing something important and then everyone is suddenly interested in your story. and then we end up not focusing on what we are supposed to do yay. no seriously we are all human ok what is so surprising about seeing another human pls explain. its getting to the point where it gets on my nerves because we keep getting interupted by these messages so please stop okay thanks.

...

Hi Hestia, this blog post is gonna be quite long (like usual pfft). Anyways, after today, I kind of looked at what I did and how I treated you guys during squad recess, and I feel remorse enveloping me.
I am truly and very sincerely sorry for shouting, screaming maybe saying some sarcasm that may have offended some of you. I understand that everyone have their own personality and their own way of handling things, and I thought I should have been more matured and understanding. It was wrong for me to shout at you guys, and even more wrong for me to "act" like the "ma'am of the squad" (as some of you tease). We are one Hestia, one squad. In this squad, no one is the leader, no one is shining bright without the others. I am in no rights or position to shout at any one of you, because we are all squad mates, and we have no difference in level (maybe in height).
I know that I am quite rash at times, that I shout at you guys to get things done and going. I should have been nicer and calmer. Everyone has their own pace of working, and we should not force too hard, but compromise and understand.
I hope I have not established an unapproachable and mean impression in you guys, but if I did, please hereby accept my sincere apologies. We are all here for one another, here to help, listen and play with one another, so we should all work hand-in-hand and strive high.
Please again pardon me for having any grammatical errors or inappropriate use of vocabulary. From the bottom of my heart I have typed out this apology note. I do hope that as time passes, we can all build a strong bond.
Anyway apart from apologizing, I wish to mention something as well. I went onto the blog, and saw many blog posts by different squad mates. I have to admit a smile crept onto my face. This has totally proven that it takes time to nurture one's feeling towards another, and I believe that if we all work harder together, we can definitely ace and shine bright as one, as Hestia.
Once again, I hope you all accept my sincere apologies, and thank you for being such wonderful squad mates. Let's shine bright and brace the tough times together, together as one, go Hestia!

~Rachel

Compromising and Understanding

Perhaps these two are the most important values we all need when working as a team. Every one of us will make mistakes, and we may also inevitably get frustrated with those who make mistakes. However, these are all natural, normal and perfectly alright, because not only are they part of our learning, but they are also part of our bonding.
It may seem hard and tough to not make mistakes. So does it mean that we have to be "perfect" and "flawless"? No, a hundred times no. No one of us should try to change our self to someone else, to be the so-called perfect and flawless. Why? Well, squad mates, I'm sure you all already know why. It because we are who we are, we are special and unique, and therefore we are perfect and flawless in our own way. Yet still, how does not changing ourselves allow our self to work better with others? How can we work with others such that no one gets frustrated and hatred war begins? Well, it all lies within to simple words you and I know--compromising and understanding.
Well sure to say, these two may be simple vocabulary adjectives that some of us have learnt in primary school, bit still, how many of us truly understand and also act out the values of this two words? To be honest, guys, I myself also cannot truly and consistently do it. However, we shall all work hard to consistently and persistently portray such elegance. The following may not be the exact dictionary definition of Compromising and Understanding, but to me, this is what they are.
Compromising: is to be understanding and generous enough to forgive and forget, and to continue to care and love for those who make mistakes, no matter what.
Understanding: is to empathise and sympathise for those who have troubles and problems, or even make mistakes, and work together with them, to overcome tough times with them.
Fellow squad mates, it is necessary for us to understand and compromise one another, for the mistakes we do, and the problems we face. We shall never give up on one another, for we are as one, and once one of us fall, all of us fall. All for one, one for all.
Even though the whole squad compromises and understands us, we still must make an effort to improve and put in hard work for the squad and yourself.
At times when we are assigned some task from Ma'ams, and we are required to complete it within a time span, we all may get anxious and worked up, and may unintentionally show frustration. Now at this time, what do we show? Understanding. Then take for example another scenario, we are required to complete something, but group members do not reply fast enough due to some contact difficulty or some other problems. Now what do we show? Compromises. Now guys, we have to understand the difficulties and problems that some of us face, and we cannot help each other at times, but still we must always learn to forgive and forget. Yet still, does it mean that we can continue to make mistakes? No, definitely not. We have to still show gratitude and understanding, by making an effort to be better.
So here, I hope we all can work together towards being compromising and understanding, because we can, we must and we need.
(Not needed to sign off, because you all know who this long-winded person is)

Thoughts of the Heritage Tour

During the whole heritage tour I was practically stretching. My back, neck, head, arms and legs were aching. I thought my stomach would growl as well, but fortunately it did not double the trouble. Honestly, this NP event is a seriously relaxed event, but I have no idea why am I dead-beaten. The whole journey back from school I was complaining to Jannah. XP
Yet still, it was a fun and enriching event. Thrilling too, maybe. I mean like, how often or how many times in a lifetime would common citizens like us get a chance to go to the Police Headquaters and tour? This was really a good experience. After all, we all have really learnt a lot about the past and present Singapore Police Force, and also our history.
However, what left the greatest impact on me after this event, is that I have saw the bond knitting closer and closer among Hestia. Honestly, I have no words to explain how glad I am to see the squad being closer than before. Now, our squad as made so much commitments and initiatives to make contributions to the squad and NPCC, which I believe is a great step we all had advanced ahead--together. Despite so, I believe our squad has full potential to push our limits and soar way beyond our capabilities. As long as we work hard together, nevermind the little stuff we suffer, we will enjoy the happy endings together.
Let's all dream high, and reach as far as we can, because as a squad, we can, we want and we will!
Go, Hestia!

Police Heritage Tour

Hey Hestia, so here are some pictures of the Police Heritage Tour we went to this afternoon. Hope all of you had fun and learnt new stuff during the tour! Oh and please try to take down some notes because I have this feeling we will be asked to write a reflection... Anyway, if any of you have any other pictures, please do post them on the blog too!

I made a piece of art!

whoo yeah! drew smth for hestia! so hard to draw with a laptop...wished i had the bamboo thingy. anyways not bad eh, i think. dear hestia,
"individually we are a petal, tgt we form a rose"-by me
we might be nice like a petal on our own, but hey, roses are even nicer. lets not hv any individualism in our squad and progress tgt ok?
-Hestia's kid lim
heres the art:

BoLiao+Flashback

The title says it all. I'm so bored now, that I'm blasting music through my laptop. No one's at home now, except for me and my younger sister. I'm literally enjoying myself now. XP
Thinking of yesterday before dismissal really makes me laugh. The moment when everyone comes to me and tell me that my skirt has been confiscated, I was actually quite flustered. I was soooo shocked that my skirt got "confiscated". I couldn't believe it. I kept thinking of how I folded my skirt, where I placed my socks, how I arranged everything--there was no possibility it could have confiscated. So right after dismissal, I immediately rushed back to our belongings and searched for my skirt. And then fear dawned on me--my skirt wasn't in place! "I'm so dead, my skirt got confiscated," I thought to my panicking inner self. I immediately searched through the stack of confiscated skirts in Khin's hands, but I couldn't find it anywhere. Then I looked everywhere on the ground, and there it was--my skirt lying in the middle of nowhere, with my socks sticking out from underneath. I heaved a of relieve...
OK, flashback is over. hahahaha... The holidays are gonna end soon, so hop everyone enjoy the last few days of their holidays, and prepare for school! ^^

P.S. Please do remember for those whose skirts were really confiscated, they were only loaned back to us. So please do remember we all gotta ask for permission to claim them back!

bc rachel said we could post anything lullul and lmao at the previous post xD
so on 160614, 8 hestians went for the sentosa outreach program((10 people were supposed to come but ahEm things happened)) those that came early just sat on the floor outside the monorail as not many shops were open so there was nothing to do(?) then we went to uss to give out free tissue packets to promote crime awareness hurhurhur. Tho we got rejected many many many times ಠ_ಠ but it was still fUn. Then we went to palawan beach where rachel and karina went to givr tissue packets to bikini ladiez hohoho that were sun tanning. There weren't many people at palawan beach though so we had to approach almost everyone we saw to finish distributing the tissue packets. After that we went to eat lunch at idekwhere and were released from there. Jannah and farzanah didnt want to eat tho bc they didnt like spaghetti ಠ quite a few funny incidents happened ohhoho but that would make this post too long :^) oh and we took some photos bc rachel wanted to upload them on our blog heorheorheor・

Wake-up Call

Nonono~ This ain't good. We have not been updating our squad blog since, when? But never mind, let's revive the blog again! We should all share the joy and spread the love, so just update any random notice or story, incident or event onto this blog! It can be about anything, even not about NP! Nah, so as long you are in it, it means Hestia's business, because we are one, and Hestia is a squad in Cedar NP! So just update random posts (like this one :-P)
Anyway, this random and stupid little post, is about me going to Johor Baru (JB) on 11 June. It was just a "go-and-come-back" trip, mainly for my family to shop and eat. So in Malaysia, I had one main item to look out for in the shops I see--Beanies. I went to soooo many shops, but I just couldn't find any (or maybe it was not of my choice, bleh~)! During the journey of beanie-searching, I constantly checked my phone, to check if there were any incoming calls or message. Unfortunately, I did not have roaming or mobile data, so I couldn't possibly have any incoming notifications. Just then, I was thinking, "How nice would it be if I had a Malaysian friend with me!" Then I thought of Sheem Yi.
Thinking of Sheem Yi reminded me that someone in the squad sells beanies, because I came across a picture of beanie-selling in the squad group on Whatsapp. I could not exactly remember who sells beanies, but I was thinking of either Jannah or Sheem Yi. So, I immediately checked the group media, but to my dismay, I actually deleted it already.. :( Luckily, I kind of remembered the price was something like, one for $6, two for $10. So I decided to continue looking for beanies in JB, to compare the prices.
FINALLY. I randomly walked into a shop, because a piece of clothing caught my eye, but I checked the price, and found it a little over my budget, so I gave it up. Then lucky me, I raised my head and found a row of it above the range of clothing. BEANIE!!! :D :-) Looking carefully, I realised that they weren't the type I was exactly looking for. They had two "bunny-like ears" on top. I preferred the normal one. Yet still, my sister told me that it will still look nice on me, so I decided to go check the price, and then, WOW WOW WOW, it was 19.90 ringgit (approximately S$7.96). Then I realised the one I thought Sheem Yi or Jannah sold was cheaper, so I left the shop and decided to head home to check the beanie out with Jannah and Sheem Yi.
So back at Singapore, I asked Sheem Yi and Jannah if they both sold beanies. Sheem Yi replied first, and lucky me--she "indirectly" sells them! She sent me the picture and I recognised that it was the picture I remembered in JB. I quickly placed my orders with her, and by then, I finally received a reply from Jannah. She told me, "I don't, ask Sheem Yi la, she sell!" (Psst... Slow right? :-P kidding..)
So now, I'm waiting for school to be reopened, so I can get my beanie!! Yay :-)
Haha, well, that was an utterly random story, but still, it involves 3 of our squad mate, so yea... B-) Let's all continue posting random stuff, alright? We can do it! It's pretty simple!

First Blog Entry

Ayo, wassup, check this out, this is Hestia's first blog entry, yo! That was really random though, but this blog entry is to tell you about our newly bonded NPCC squad, beloved Hestia!
Well, our squad name, Hestia, is named after a Greek Goddess. Hestia is the goddess of Hearth (home and earth). Our squad is still quite new to NPCC, and of course we still have more to know about each other. We will definitely bond more and be as close and bonded as we can. "United we stand, divided we fall", this quote shall always remind us of one another, and our NP cliche, "leave no one behind"! We shall always have each other in mind, always caring or one another, helping each other, never leaving anyone out, because... WE ARE ONE!
As part of Hestia, I do want to say some emo stuff up here so there shall always be a nice opening to every new chapter of our NP life.
It has been 3 months and 27 days since our first meeting. Still remember when we were all awkward and stranger to each other? Yea, but we grew out of it, and we will bond more! The stranger and awkward atmosphere in Hestia shall be gone as time grows, right? Have you all actually calculated? We have actually learnt about 10 drills! Woohoo! And we have had so many bonding sessions. Remember those times when everyone was formal and awkward when chatting on Whatsapp? Now we just blabber any rubbish we can think of. Time has gave us so much, so let us continue to cherish time together, as we will be sticking together for the next few years in Cedar. We shall only bond more and be closer, kicking all the awkwardness and unfamiliar atmosphere out of our squad.
For this 3 months and 27 days, I have so much to say to our squad. Firstly, I am very thankful for being able to get into Cedar NPCC, and having Hestia, such a wonderful squad. Being accepted into NPCC was one of my greatest joy then. Secondly, my second greatest joy, is that, now, Hestia has been so much more closer and striving higher since our first few parades. Able to see our own squad bloom into such prosperous and ongoing squad, it is really great. Last of all, I wish and do here and now, that Hestia can stay forever close and bonded, always striving for the best. We may not be the best (yet), but we shall definitely do our best!
We shall shine as one Hestia, for glory of Cedar!

DREAM HIGH REACH FAR, HESTIA'S THE BEST!
