Karina wrote about this but oh well I'm gonna write another one.
I went for the first shift with Kar Wai, Karina, Valerie, Victoria, Apoorva, Jannah and Elizabeth (and 10 Astraia ma'ams and a few Zephyr ma'ams). The flag day was pretty fun but a bit tiring. I stood near the escalators and I think some people were kinda annoyed like
*goes up escalator*
*reaches the top*
*first thing he/she sees is me holding a donation tin*
However, most of them were quite nice and dug out a handful of coins from their pockets or wallets; and even those who didn't want to donate were still really polite about it. Some of them were really kind and still took the time to take out their wallets even though they were rushing to the MRT station to catch the train. I realised that parents with kids were more willing to donate and often gave their kids the money to drop into the tin. I think it's a good thing to teach kids to donate or contribute to their society since young.
It kinda felt like an achievement feeling the donation tin get heavier and heavier and see the sticker sheets getting emptier and emptier because it meant that more funds had been collected.
Generally, I had an enriching experience and I'd probably be more eager to participate in such activities in future :)
(There were only 8 people in the first session and I've listed out the other 7 you can go guess who I am)
Also there's this old video of a hamster it's really cute go watch it if you are free for 52 seconds and you like hamsters too yay
